LUHANSK, May 28 (RIA Novosti) – Luhansk self-defense forces did not call for negotiations with the authorities in Kiev, the head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic told journalists Wednesday, responding to earlier media reports.
“I do not know. Perhaps, these were some Kiev forces that were asking for negotiations? We did not appeal for any talks,” Valery Bolotov stressed, adding that the only condition for holding negotiations was the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the territory of the republic.
“Talks with the Kiev government may take place only when their forces are withdrawn from our territory,” the head of the republic said.
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian special forces controlled by the government announced that representatives of the self-defense forces allegedly tried to get in touch with those in charge of the special operation underway in Ukraine’s east to discuss possible negotiations.
