Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev offered a proposal on Thursday for the Russian, Kazakh and Belarusian parliaments to synchronize their ratification of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty.

ASTANA, May 29 (RIA Novosti) – Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev offered a proposal on Thursday for the Russian, Kazakh and Belarusian parliaments to synchronize their ratification of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty.

“After signing the treaty we have to ratify the document in parliaments ... I suggest to synchronize the timelines of this work in all three states so that the union starts functioning on January 1, 2015," Nazarbayev said during a Supreme Eurasian Economic Council session in Astana, the Kazakh capital.

Earlier in the day, the leaders of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty. The treaty will bring Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus to a higher level of integration, and the three commit to guaranteeing the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor as well as the implementation of coordinated policies in key sectors, including energy, industry, agriculture and transport.
