MOSCOW, June 5 (RIA Novosti) – The RT news website has won the prestigious “Best in Class” prize in the News Website category in the Interactive Media Awards for its web design and professionalism, the Russia-based TV news channel reported Thursday.
A total of 37 contenders were judged on five criteria, with points awarded on a scale of 1-100 in each category. The panel of experts included world’s leading web designers, programmers and other IT-related professionals.
RT.com garnered the maximum 100 points for content, 99 points for functionality, and 93 points for both design and compliance standards.
Previous winners of the “Best in Class” prize in the News Website category include CBS, NBC, The Examiner, The Atlantic and RTVE.
The website is available in English, Spanish, Arabic and Russian, and releases updates on breaking news and the latest RT channel broadcasts.
According to the California-based Internet analytics company Alexa, RT.com is significantly superior to the webpages of Al-Jazeera, Euronews, Sky News, MSNBC, CCTV, Deutsche Welle and France 24.
