Alexander Lukashevich, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said Thursday that Moscow is not going to shun dialogue with the new Ukraine leadership in accordance with its previously voiced position.

MOSCOW, June 5 (RIA Novosti) - Alexander Lukashevich, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said Thursday that Moscow is not going to shun dialogue with the new Ukraine leadership in accordance with its previously voiced position.

“The position that Russian President [Vladimir Putin] had declared did not change. The most important is that he [the president] is not planning to avoid dialogue and [informal] meetings that will probably be held there along with the planned events,” Lukashevich said.

On Wednesday, Vladimir Putin told French broadcasters that he was ready to meet Ukrainian President-elect Petro Poroshenko while in France. It was reported that the Russian leader and Ukraine’s newly elected president will cross paths during the D-Day celebrations in Normandy on Saturday, but a bilateral meeting is not planned.
