BERLIN, June 16 (RIA Novosti) - Seven-time Formula-1 champion Michael Schumacher has woken from coma and has left the rehabilitation clinic in Grenoble, German mass media reported on Monday, citing the pilot’s manager Sabine Kehm.

“He is no longer in coma,” Kehm was quoted as saying, adding that Schumacher has been transferred out of the Grenoble clinic in order to continue the long phase of rehabilitation.

Schumacher got his severe head injury while skiing in the French resort of Meribel in December 2013. He underwent brain surgery at the Grenoble clinic and was then put in a medically induced coma.

In April, his health condition has improved. Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm said that the athlete began to stay conscious for longer periods of time, he could hear voices and react to touch.

Schumacher, 45, spent about 6,5 months at the Grenoble clinic. The racer is able to communicate with his wife Corinna and two children, according to the German tabloid Bild.

Schumacher won his first title of World champion in 1994, racing for Benetton. After that, he earned the title in 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, winning 91 races in total, setting an absolute record in the history of the Grand Prix.
