MOSCOW, June 17 (RIA Novosti) – The Rossiya Segodnya news agency is launching its ukraina.ru website on June 18, which is to be dedicated to the events surrounding the Ukrainian crisis.
Editor-in-Chief of the Web resource Alyona Berezovskaya is to hold a presentation at the agency at 11:00 a.m. MSK (07:00 a.m. GMT), which viewers will be able to watch on ukraina.ru.
Questions can be asked via the website,as well as social networks Facebook and Vkontakte, and by sending an e-mail to editors@ukraina.ru.
The web resource is to serve as a mirror of Russian-Ukrainian relations, reflecting a wide range of issues and opening discussions and exchange of ideas. Ukraina.ru is to play the role of aggregator of theme-based information trends; it will analyze articles from global media, issue opinions, interviews, and the views of experts and non-experts about the events in Ukraine.
There is high demand for this kind of web resource in light of the information war in Ukraine, Berezovskaya said. "We have a lot of examples how this ‘Ukrainian’ information war is working. The Ukrainian ‘information front-line fighters’ do not hesitate, do not constrain themselves to any moral standards, speaking about ‘patriotic beliefs’ and concern for ‘the interests of Ukraine.’ They consider lies an instrument, a weapon in the information war, dishonesty is not a vice [for them], but a virtue," Berezovskaya said.
Ukraina.ru will also co-organize various projects aimed at rapprochement of Russia and Ukraine, such as conferences, roundtables, joint charitable and cultural and educational events and activities.
