MOSCOW, June 30 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Foreign Ministry demanded on Monday that Kiev investigate the situation around the death of yet another Russian journalist in Ukraine’s eastern region of Donetsk.

A cameraman from Russia’s Channel-1 television station, Anatoly Klyan, was killed late Sunday night by gunfire while he was traveling on a bus with a group of refugees outside the city of Donetsk.

“We demand the Ukrainian authorities conduct an objective investigation into this tragedy and firmly punish the guilty,” the ministry said in a statement.

“We mourn and express our condolences to [Anatoly Klyan’s] relatives and loved ones. The death of the Russian journalist has again proven that Ukraine’s power structures obviously do not want to de-escalate the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine and are blocking the fragile ceasefire,” the statement reads.

Klyan died from a gunshot wound in the stomach on the way to the hospital.

Earlier in the month, two other employees of Russia’s VGTRK media holding were killed in a mortar attack near the eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk.

According to France-based organization the Reporters Without Borders, more than 200 journalists have been attacked, injured or abducted in Ukraine as tensions in the country started to escalate.

Moscow has repeatedly condemned the mistreatment of media workers in Ukraine and called for a thorough inquiry into the death of journalists.
