MOSCOW, July 3 (RIA Novosti) – An automated resource provisioning system for the Russian Defense Ministry will be fully implemented by 2017, the deputy CEO of the Central Research and Development Institute of Economics, Informatics and Control Systems said Thursday.
“The deadline is very tight. Blocks – records of real estate and personnel – are operating already. The whole program is expected up by 2017, which means that in two-and-a-half years everything should start working,” Dmitry Petrov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The automated control system for the armed forces, starting from combat control and ending with resource provisioning systems for the defense ministry, allows for comprehensive control of all military resources from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.
The system is being implemented to increase the transparency of purchases and help produce a prompt reaction to any changes in the ministry.
Petrov elaborated that the system provides seven blocks in all, including blocks of logistical support, financial and pension provisions, health resort services, housing, personnel records and real estate analysis.
According to Petrov, the automated system will also help authorities keep records while implementing different tasks.
“One of the key issues is the standardization of the entire information technology system within the framework of the defense ministry, because the information technology structure is in disarray. Everything that has been implemented was done without a unified structure and system,” Petrov added.
