MOSCOW, July 4 (RIA Novosti) – US foreign policy is the main cause of instability in the world, Russia’s lower house speaker Sergei Naryshkin said Friday.
“We are very concerned by attempts to revise international law as well as by the instability of its institutions, which are prone, as it seems to us, to excessive influence by individual states, especially the United States, whose foreign policy is the main cause of international instability," Naryshkin said.
The Russian lawmaker referred to the annual WIN/Gallop International survey showing that people across the globe consider the US the number one threat to peace in the world today.
Some 70,000 respondents from 65 countries participated in the survey, Naryshkin noted.
“Pakistan is in second place with eight percent, and the United States is the absolute leader since it has garnered 24 percent on the issue. The figures speak for themselves,” the politician concluded.
The WIN/Gallup International association’s End of Year Survey is a global study that collects the public’s view on the challenges the world faces today. The results of the latest survey were published in December.
