MOSCOW, July 9 (RIA Novosti) – A photo exhibition “Beyond the Red Line”, organized by International News Agency Rossiya Segodnya and dedicated to the events in Ukraine is an antiwar project, Rossiya Segodnya Director-General Dmitry Kiselev said at a press conference Wednesday.
“This is an antiwar project. We do not show men in uniform. We have our own assessment of the events, but we do not state anything in this exhibition except for the desire to stop these horrors. We want to stop the war in the heart of Europe,” Kiselev said.
According to the general-director, the goal of the project is to show what people in eastern Ukraine witness every day and what cannot be demonstrated on television without an over 18 age restriction.
“This exhibition is not complete, it will continue developing for as long as the fratricidal war goes on in southeastern Ukraine,” Kiselev noted, adding that foreign ambassadors will receive an electronic version of the exhibition that will be displayed on international websites.
The exposition will be on show from July 10 to July 25 at the Moscow Central House of Journalists. The photo project includes 50 exclusive images shot by Rossiya Segodnya photo correspondents in areas where the fighting is continuing in cities and towns in southeastern Ukraine. The photo stories, which have never been published before, show a clear and truthful picture of people's suffering, of the trials brought upon them by this large-scale civil conflict.
Visitors will be able to see what people in Donbas and the Donetsk and Luhansk regions see every day. There are no photographs of the warring sides' soldiers, or their equipment, or action – only the suffering of the people whose lives it has touched, peaceful civilians and refugees.
The authorities in Kiev have been conducting a special military operation in eastern Ukraine since mid-April to suppress the local protest movement that emerged in response to the coup. The change of government sparked rallies among supporters of independence. The government launched a military operation against them, involving an air force, armored vehicles and heavy artillery.
Moscow has condemned the operation as a punitive act that has led to numerous casualties on both sides, including among the civilian population, and has demanded that Kiev stop the operation immediately.
