MOSCOW, July 18 (RIA Novosti) – Members of the OSCE mission in Ukraine will arrive at the crash site of the Malaysia Airlines passenger plane in eastern Ukraine on Friday evening or Saturday morning, a mission spokesman told RIA Novosti on Friday.
“Our employees have already departed to the plane crash site and are expected to arrive at their destination this evening or on Saturday morning at latest," he said.
The spokesman said the team has 30 members, all of them representing the OSCE mission in Ukraine.
The OSCE team will join Ukrainian and Malaysian investigators already at the scene. Teams from the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC), Interpol, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to join them.
A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed near the town of Torez in the Donetsk Region on Thursday, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board.
Kiev blamed independence supporters in the turbulent Donetsk Region for downing the passenger plane with a surface-to-air missile. Militia forces said they had no missile systems that could hit a target flying at an altitude of 10,000 meters.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier Moscow would insist on an independent and transparent investigation into the accident and that Russia was ready to provide logistical support.
