5 Injured Remain in Critical Condition, 20 Discharged after Moscow Metro Accident

Five people injured in the Moscow metro accident are still in critical condition, while 20 people have been already discharged from the hospitals, Moscow City Health Department told RIA Novosti Saturday.

MOSCOW, July 19 (RIA Novosti) - Five people injured in the Moscow metro accident are still in critical condition, while 20 people have been already discharged from the hospitals, Moscow City Health Department told RIA Novosti Saturday.

"In total, there are 118 people in Moscow hospitals, 11 were discharged yesterday and 9 [have been discharged] today," the head of the department Georgy Golukhov said.

He also said that 15 people are in critical condition, another 5 - in an extremely grave condition. "Nobody died," the official noted.

Golukhov added that 20 dead bodies have already been taken out of the morgues, and only two bodies of Chinese citizens remain unidentified. The condition of the train driver, which is currently in the medication sleep, is stable. Moscow hospitals have everything to assist the victims, Golukhov said.

The accident took place on Tuesday during the morning rush hour as three cars of a train derailed inside a tunnel between the Molodezhnaya and Slavyansky Bulvar stations on the dark blue Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line. The derailment left 161 injured and 23 dead, according to the Russian Health Ministry. More than 120 people were hospitalized.
