TBILISI, July 21 (RIA Novosti) – Speaking at an extraordinary briefing Monday, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has ruled out the possibility of snap parliamentary elections in the country and announced staff changes in the Cabinet, relieving seven ministers of office, Georgian news agency Novosti Gruziya reported.
According to the reports, the ministers relieved of office include the culture minister, the environment and natural resources minister, the refugee affairs minister, the agriculture minister, the regional development minister, the corrections and probation minister, as well as the diaspora issues minister.
Only two of the above mentioned ministers remain in the Cabinet taking over another ministry.
Garibashvili also ruled out a possibility of snap parliamentary elections in the country.
“Georgia will not hold elections until parliamentary vote in 2016. We have had more than enough parliamentary elections,” Garibashvili said, answering a journalist’s question if early elections would be held.
The Georgian Dream coalition won the country’s 2012 parliamentary elections, while the United National Movement, the ruling party since the Rose Revolution and led by former president Mikheil Saakashvili, became the opposition.
A year later, Giorgi Margvelashvili from Georgian Dream won the presidency replacing Saakashvili.
This summer, Georgia held two rounds of local elections that saw Georgian Dream representatives elected in all the country’s regions.
