MOSCOW, July 22 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte have called for immediate ceasefire in Ukraine’s conflict zone and full access of experts to the Boeing crash site, the Kremlin press service said Monday.
In a phone conversation, the sides “stressed the importance of ensuring direct and full access of specialists to the tragedy scene for immediate launch of international investigation led by ICAO.”
“Therefore, the need for immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the conflict zone has been emphasized,” the statement said.
Both leaders welcomed the UN Security Council resolution adopted on Monday.
The UN has demanded that those responsible for this incident be held to account and all military activities be immediately ceased near the crash site to allow for security and safety of the international probe.
The Dutch prime minister marked Putin’s “constructive contribution” in the efforts to investigate the circumstances of the crash, the statement said.
Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 airliner en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed near Donetsk on July 17. All 298 people on board the airliner died, including 283 passengers and 15 crew members.
