MOSCOW, July 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte discussed the implementation of the UN Security Council resolution supporting a thorough and independent international investigation into the Malaysian Boeing 777 crash in eastern Ukraine, the Kremlin’s press service announced Tuesday.

“The leaders discussed questions concerning practical implementation of the UN Security Council resolution 2166 adopted on the 21st of July, which demands a full, thorough and independent investigation into the Malaysia Airlines plane crash that took place on the 17th of July in Donetsk region,” the statement says.

On July 17, Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, heading from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in eastern Ukraine, near the city of Donetsk. All 298 people on board died, including 283 passengers and 15 crew members.

Ukrainian authorities place the blame for the crash on independence supporters in the country’s eastern regions, while the latter maintain they do not have the means to shoot down a plane flying at 32,000 feet.

Late Monday, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution calling for an international investigation into the Malaysia Airlines plane crash in Ukraine. The 15-member council said in a resolution it “supports efforts to establish a full, thorough and independent international investigation into the incident in accordance with international civil aviation guidelines.”

Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said Moscow was ready to provide any necessary assistance in organizing the international investigation.
