DONETSK, July 23 (RIA Novosti) – More than 400 people have been killed since the start of Kiev’s military operation against independence supporters in Ukraine’s Donetsk Region, the official website of the city of Donetsk reported Wednesday.
“Since March, 432 people, including 36 women and six children, have been killed and 1,015 others injured,” the statement said, referring to Donetsk Region health department.
On Tuesday, at least seven people sustained injures in the city of Donetsk as fighting between the Ukrainian Army and militia continued on its outskirts. Another four people were injured in the town of Horlivka. According to the local authorities, there are also casualties in other settlements, including Shakhtarsk, Snizhne and Starobilsk.
The Ukrainian authorities have been carrying out a military operation in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk since March.
Moscow, which describes the ongoing military actions as a punitive operation, has called for an immediate end to the bloodshed, but despite numerous promises to initiate the de-escalation process, Kiev has so far not made any moves to stop the conflict.
