ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 23 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian servicemen, who were hospitalized last week in Russia’s Rostov Region after being wounded in firefights with armed militia in eastern Ukraine, said Wednesday they are thankful to the Russian doctors for providing qualified medical treatment.
“We were surrounded in the area of Chervonopartyzansk border crossing [connecting Ukraine’s Luhansk Region and Russia’s Rostov Region.] We asked for help and our [Ukrainian] border guards escorted us to the Russian border guards,” Ukrainian serviceman Ruslan told RIA Novosti.
“Of course, I would like to thank Russian doctors,” he added.
According to a Ukrainian military doctor, who was also injured during the shelling in Ukraine and hospitalized in Russia’s Rostov, the medical assistance was very professional and efficient.
“As a doctor I can assess medical treatment as qualified,” he said.
Eighteen Ukrainian servicemen were discharged from Rostov’s hospitals. Four servicemen still remain in hospitals.
Since the beginning of the special military operation launched by Kiev to suppress independence supporters in the east of Ukraine, the clashes in the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions neighboring Russian border have become more frequent.
The violent confrontation between the Kiev-backed forces and militia even led to accidental shelling of the Russian territory.
