MOSCOW, July 25 (RIA Novosti) – Interpol has issued a Red Notice for Dmitriy Yarosh, the outspoken leader of the Ukrainian ultranationalist movement Right Sector, according to the data posted on the international organization’s website Friday.
According to Interpol, Yarosh is wanted on charges of “public incitement to terrorist activities involving the use of mass media” and “public incitement to extremist activities involving the use of mass media.”
A Red Notice is issued for persons “wanted by national jurisdictions for prosecution or to serve a sentence based on an arrest warrant or court decision.”
In March, Russia put Yarosh on an international wanted list and charged him with inciting extremism after he publicly appealed to Doku Umarov, the self-proclaimed head of a secessionist Islamic radical group in the North Caucasus, to help fight against the “Russian occupation of Ukraine.”
Dmitriy Yarosh participated in 2014 Ukrainian presidential election and received 0.7% of the votes.
The members of the Right Sector movement were among those who clashed with police and seized administrative buildings in Ukraine in January.
On May 2, Right Sector gunmen together with pro-Kiev militants blocked the anti-government protesters in the House of Trade Unions in the city of Odessa and set the building on fire. At least 48 people died, over 200 were injured.
Moscow has repeatedly called on Kiev to disarm the Right Sector militants and urged to stop the bloodshed and resolve the conflict through nationwide dialogue.
