PARIS, July 26 (RIA Novosti) - French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius is holding a meeting with his foreign counterparts in Paris to discuss the situation in Gaza and to support efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Foreign ministers of the UK, Germany, Qatar, Turkey, Italy, the US Secretary of State and the head of EU diplomacy are taking part in the meeting that started at 11:30 a.m. local time (09:30 GMT).
"For France, which serves as a bridge between the warring parties, the cessation of the bloody conflict is extremely urgent and necessary," according to the communiqué.
Israel has been conducting its military operation in the Gaza Strip targeting the Hamas movement and its allied groups of Palestinian rebels since July 7.
Late July 17, following days of shelling and aerial bombardment the Israeli military moved to a ground offensive largely aimed at demolishing the tunnels.
According to the recent reports, more than 926 Palestinians mostly civilians have already died in the conflict. The Israeli side has lost about 40 people.
