MOSCOW, July 26 (RIA Novosti) – The number of Ukrainian refugees that remain in the temporary accommodation centers (TACs) in Russia has exceeded 31,000, an increase of 4,600 over the last night, a spokesman for the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Drobyshevskiy said.
During the last 24 hours, 20 additional TACs have been set.
"Some 31,784 people remain in 433 TACs, including 11,728 children," Drobyshevskiy said. There were more than 27,000 citizens of Ukraine in TACs the previous night.
People have been provided with everything they need, including food, medical and psychological assistance.
More than 1,400 tons of humanitarian aid has been delivered for the refugees.
"People are coming mostly from the southeastern regions of Ukraine to the Rostov region and Crimea. From there, the Emergencies Ministry helps them get to the other Russian regions, if that is their wish. In total, more than 15,500 people have chosen to do so up to the current date," Drobyshevskiy said.
The number of people fleeing from Ukraine to Russia increased dramatically since spring amid the ongoing military actions between Kiev government troops and self-defense forces. Each day several thousand of Ukrainians cross the Russian-Ukrainian border in Russia's Rostov region. According to the latest reports of the Federal Migration Service, around 517,000 refugees came to Russia from the southeast of Ukraine since the start of Kiev-led military operation.
