KIEV, July 26 (RIA Novosti) – Ukraine’s Interior Ministry has confirmed the murder of the Kremenchug mayor, Poltava region, a representative of the ministry’s local department told RIA Novosti.
Earlier the same day, the murder of the mayor was reported by the newspaper Ukrainskaya pravda with reference to an informed source.
"The mayor of Kremenchug was killed today at about 10:00 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT). He was shot in the chest on the Sumskaya street, near a private house, where he lived," the agency’s interlocutor said.
An investigative group is working at the crime scene; a case has been initiated under the article “premeditated murder.”
The ministry said that it was too early to speak about any versions and motive for the crime.
