MOSCOW, July 26 (RIA Novosti) – The second black box of the crashed Air Algerie plane was found in Mali, Agence France Presse reported on Saturday.

“The second black box was found this morning at the crash site,” representative of the UN peacekeeping mission in Mali, Radhia Achouri told the agency.

According to the media, the flight data recorder was discovered in the Gossi area, about 100 kilometres (60 miles) from the city of Gao in the north-east of Mali. The agency also reported that the debris of the airliner did not spread over a wide area, which indicates that the plane crashed upon hitting the ground. The first black box was recovered earlier on Friday.

Air Algerie’s McDonnell Douglas 83 on route from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algeria crashed in Mali on Thursday. About 116 people from 15 countries, mostly from France, were on board of the plane. All passengers and crew members supposedly died in the crash.

The key theories of what might have caused the accident are a terrorist act and poor weather conditions. The plane deviated from the original course due to the impending storm.
