Over 100 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza strip on Tuesday, local health official Ashraf al-Quidra reported.

MOSCOW, July 29 (RIA Novosti) - Over 100 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza strip on Tuesday, local health official Ashraf al-Quidra reported.

“Over 100 people have been killed on Tuesday, more than 200 have been injured,” Ashraf al-Quidra wrote on his Facebook page.

Yesterday, the Israeli Army said it suspended active military operations in Gaza. However, the fact that 10 Israeli soldiers were killed on Monday pushed the military command to turn to its "traditional methods".

More than 60 targets in Gaza were struck last night, including the El-Bureij refugee camp, southern town of Rafah, and Khan Yunis town.

According to the local medics, one of the leaders of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine was killed in yesterday’s strikes.

The Gaza Strip's sole power plant was shut down on Tuesday morning after being struck by Israeli army, a local energy company representative told RIA Novosti.

At the same time, eight Palestinian missiles landed on Israeli territory.

Health officials say that some 157 Palestinians, including many civilians have been killed since the fighting started over three weeks ago. About 6,700 have been injured.

Israel has lost 56 people, including 53 officers and soldiers.

Israel launched its Gaza offensive on July 8, targeting the Hamas movement and its allied groups of rebels in response to Palestinian aggression. On July 17, following days of fighting, Tel Aviv switched to a ground offensive aimed at destroying underground tunnel used by Palestinians to smuggle arms and secretly enter Israeli territory.
