MOSCOW, August 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russian billionaire Gennady Timchenko fears the US government may come forward with provocations against him, Anton Kurevin, Timchenko’s representative, told RIA Novosti on Friday.
“We indeed have reasons to assume that there may be provocations,” Kurevin said.
The representative refused to expand on the matter “for safety reasons.”
In May 2014, Timchenko was placed on the US sanction list because of his close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The businessman, who holds a dual Russian-Finnish citizenship, is banned from entering the United States, while his assets in the country are frozen.
Businessman Gennady Timchenko is the owner of investment company Volga Group, co-owner of natural gas producer NOVATEK, and is a member of the board of directors at gas processing and petrochemicals company SIBUR.
