MOSCOW, August 3 (RIA Novosti) – The chief of staff of Britain’s largest trade union Unite has branded the Kiev regime as “fascist” and called on the UK government to stop supporting Ukraine’s authorities, the Daily Mail reported on Sunday.
“We have to take a stand here in Britain, which is the main ally of the United States… which is standing with the Kiev government and backing its horrendous assault on its own people,” Andrew Murray was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
“I support opposition to the war in Ukraine and to the Far Right in the Kiev government that includes hard-line fascists,” he said, adding: “We must demand that our government stops supporting EU and NATO expansion and stops supporting the Kiev government.”
Murray is a supporter of a campaign called Solidarity With The Antifascist Resistance In Ukraine (SARU), which was launched in June. SARU held a demonstration outside the Ukrainian Embassy in London against “repression in Eastern Ukraine” after Malaysian passenger plane crashed in mid-July killing 298 people on board.
A posting on the SARU website reads: “Protesters also spoke up against the media coverage of the downed Malaysian flight MH17 over Eastern Ukraine, criticizing the haste attribution of guilt to Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
SARU suggested that the airliner flew “lower than usual over the danger zone at the request of the Ukrainian dispatchers.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin said it was vital to abstain from hasty conclusions on the Boeing crash case before the international investigation was over.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that Kiev has so far failed to provide the recorded conversations between Ukrainian air traffic control and MH17 flight.
Media reports said that the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) confiscated tapes of conversations between Ukrainian air traffic controllers and the crew of the plane.
A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed near Donetsk on July 17. All 298 people on board, including 283 passengers and 15 crew members died.
