MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti) – British intelligence and security agency Government Communications Headquarters (GHCQ) has given its stamp of approval to Edinburgh Napier University, Lancaster University, Oxford University, Royal Holloway University of London, Cranfield University and University of Surrey to train ‘future sleuths,’ Wired reported Tuesday.

"Cyber Security is a crucial part of this government's long-term plan for the British economy," Cabinet Office Minister Francis Maude said during a visit to GCHQ on August 1, according to a GHCQ press release.

Maude added that, "we want to make the UK one of the safest places in the world to do business online. Through the excellent work of GCHQ, in partnership with other government departments, the private sector and academia, we are able to counter threats and ensure together we are stronger and more aware."

According to the GHCQ press release, a further call for a master’s certification will be made later this year, with more focus on critical areas of cybersecurity, such as digital forensics.

Mark Hughes, the CEO of BT Security, a computer security software company, reacted to the initiative saying it gave his company the confidence that upcoming graduates would have the “sound knowledge base in cybersecurity that we would be looking for," Wired reported.

Harriet Hernando of the Daily Mail said the next James Bonds are expected from these universities.
