MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti) - Top-managers of several British companies think it necessary to lift the sanctions imposed against Russia, expressing their opinion in a letter published by The Telegraph.
"Through trade and contact, a trust develops leading to reliance and openness between countries. There is no better basis for establishing a better understanding between Russia and the West," the letter said.
The letter is signed by Steven Landes (S H Landes LLP), Barry Martin (The Russia House), David Gardner (DG Leadership), Michael Lightfoot (Classical Brands), Timothy Jelley (Export Explorer), John Metcalfe (RFIB Group), John Bonar (Focus on Russia).
The United States and the European Union have imposed sanctions against Russia over the crisis in Ukraine, targeting certain individuals and companies by freezing assets, banning visas and hindering financial operations. Moscow has repeatedly said that applying sanctions was counterproductive and warned against repercussions.
