MOSCOW, August 6 (RIA Novosti) – The head of Russia’s agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergei Dankvert, will discuss the possibility of an increase in the import of fruits and vegetables from Turkey with Turkish Agricultural Ministry representative Nihat Pakdil on August 8, a Rospotrebnadzor statement said.
The talks will be held in a format of telephone conference.
On August 1, Rosselkhoznadzor imposed a ban on all fruits and vegetables imported from Poland, citing numerous licensing breaches and the detection of quarantined items.
The Polish Agriculture Ministry said the ban was a response by Moscow to increased EU sanctions against Russia. Moscow denied this accusation.
Poland has said that the country would lose about $700 million due to the embargo.
