MOSCOW, August 7 (RIA Novosti) — Small businesses in the city of Charlotte in North Carolina are already using drones for their professional needs, while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is till to finalize national drone regulations, The Charlotte Observer reported.
Carolina Digital Photo Group is using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to obtain aerial footage of golf courses and high-rise buildings for their clients.
“The truth is, the FAA doesn’t fully understand [drone] technology or how to integrate it into the national airspace, so they continue stalling,” Ted Lindsley, the CEO of drone manufacturer Olaeris, was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
Helicopter Hobbies company switched from selling radio-controlled helicopters to drones that can fit a camera.
Video productions company Nowsay uses UAVs to film material for their videos.
Businesses in Charlotte are ready to welcome the FAA regulations but are afraid that, while they wait for those to be finalized, their competitors may gain comparative advantage.
