MEXICO, August 8 (RIA Novosti) – Ecuador is looking into the Palestinian Authority’s request for medical aid to the Gaza Strip, the country’s Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
Ecuadorans have already been pitching in an ongoing campaign in Ecuador for the collection of humanitarian aid for Gazans, who are in need of tents, nonperishable food and clothing, according to the Foreign Ministry.
On July 8, Israel launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip, known as Operation Protective Edge, aiming to combat Hamas and other rival Palestinian forces. The operation involved air raids and a ground offensive.
More than 1,800 Palestinians, most of them civilians, and 64 Israeli soldiers and officers have been killed in the conflict, according to the UN.
