MOSCOW, August 8 (RIA Novosti) — The Kiev government has prepared a list of 172 individuals and 65 legal entities from Russia and other states who are subject to 26 various types of sanctions, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said Friday.

The list was handed over to Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council for consideration.

"In order to impose the sanctions, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a draft law on sanctions, because we are imposing sanctions against foreign entities for the first time in Ukraine’s history. Under the law, Ukraine has the right to impose 26 types of sanctions," Yatsenyuk said.

The prime minister said his country would use "all lawful instruments, including the possibility to stop all types of transit [via Ukraine], from air transport to transit of energy resources."

The statement came one day after Russia imposed a one-year ban on the imports of beef, pork, poultry, fish, seafood, milk, dairy products, as well as fruits and vegetables from the European Union, the United States, Australia, Canada and Norway.

The United States has already imposed several rounds of sanctions against Russian officials, business people and companies and pressed for its allies in the West to follow its lead. The European Union, Canada, and Australia soon caved in and drew up their own blacklists.
