The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Monday that it was awaiting all necessary details from Russia on the humanitarian assistance it was planning to send to Ukraine.

MOSCOW, August 11 (RIA Novosti) - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Monday that it was awaiting all necessary details from Russia on the humanitarian assistance it was planning to send to Ukraine.

“Prior to beginning of the operation, the ICRC should receive without undue delay from the authorities of the Russian Federation all necessary details concerning the aid, including the volume and type of items, and requirements for transport and storage,” the organization said in a press release.

According to ICRC's head of operations for Europe and Central Asia, Laurent Corbaz, “the situation is critical – thousands of people are reported to be without access to water, electricity and medical aid.”

Corbaz stressed that it was crucial that citizens of Luhansk and other eastern regions received humanitarian aid.

As it was reported earlier in the day, Russia in cooperation with ICRC representatives was dispatching a humanitarian convoy to Ukraine. The Kremlin later confirmed that a truck convoy with humanitarian cargo would depart shortly to the crisis-torn country under the aegis of the Emergencies Ministry.
