MOSCOW (August 12) RIA Novosti - Unhappy with the recent UN report on human rights in North Korea, Pyongyang decided to issue its own study on the matter, according to the North's Korean state-run Central News Agency (KCNA).

The agency said the report will be published by the country’s Association for Human Rights Studies, but did not give the exact date of the release.

“The report will show the true picture of the people of the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) dynamically advancing toward a brighter and rosy future while enjoying a free and happy life under the socialist system centered on the popular masses and contribute to disclosing the dastardly moves of the US and other hostile forces who are working with bloodshot eyes to bring down the ideology of the DPRK and the social system in it under the signboard of safeguarding human rights,” the agency said on the English version of its website.

The Association will work “in cooperation with human rights experts and scholars in various fields and institutions concerned”.

Nearly six months earlier the UN Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights in the DPRK published its 372-page report on its detailed findings, accusing the regime of “crimes against humanity”.

“These crimes against humanity entail extermination, murder, enslavement, torture, imprisonment, rape, forced abortions and other sexual violence, persecution on political, religious, racial and gender grounds, the forcible transfer of populations, the enforced disappearance of persons and the inhumane act of knowingly causing prolonged starvation,” said the UN study.
