ZHUKOVSKY, August 13 (RIA Novosti) - Western economic sanctions have not caused a sharp decline in Russia’s arms imports from Europe, a deputy director of Russia’s state-run arms export giant Rosoboronexport said Wednesday.
“We probably shouldn’t be talking about rapid decline in arms and military equipment procurement because the amount of the equipment we were purchasing was not that [significant],” Igor Sevastyanov said.
Earlier this year, the United States and the EU imposed targeted sanctions against Russia’s defense and energy companies over the Ukrainian crisis.
