MOSCOW, August 14 (RIA Novosti) - Pope Francis arrived in Seoul on Thursday for a five-day official visit, reported Yonhap news agency.
Pope Francis was greeted at the airport at Seoul Airport by South Korean President Park Geun-hye, according to the agency.
The pope is scheduled to have talks with Park Geun-hye later in the day. Pope Francis will also take part in celebration of the 6th Asian Youth Day ‒ a gathering of Asian Catholic youth ‒ and hold a Holy Mass for Peace and Reconciliation, where he is expected to issue a message of peace and reconciliation for all South and North Koreans.
Francis became the first pope in 25 years to visit South Korea. It is also the first papal visit to Asia since 1999.
