MOSCOW, August 18 (RIA Novosti) – Metropolitan Onufriy has been enthroned as the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. He was elected on August 13 following the death of the previous Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Volodymyr on July 5.
The newly elected Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) of the Moscow Patriarchate (MP), Metropolitan Onufriy, second left, takes part in the enthronement ceremony at the Kiev Pechersk Lavra in Kiev.
The enthronement ceremony was attended by representatives of 12 of the 15 local Orthodox churches in the world.
