MOSCOW, August 19 (RIA Novosti) – Russia is systematically providing the US Department of State, which continues to accuse Russia of escalating tensions in Ukraine, with selections of publications, and with reports from the Russian and foreign media from hot spots, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Tuesday.
“We have started gathering facts; we have started collecting publications and media reports. In particular, the reports made by your channel and other Russian channels, as well as foreign channels, which we are systematically sending to the Department of State,” Zakharova told Russia's Rossiya-24 TV channel when commenting on the baseless statements which have been made by representatives of the US Department of State.
“And during negotiations between [Russian Foreign Minister Sergei] Lavrov and [US Secretary of State John] Kerry, our minister said: here is evidence. These are the people [correspondents] who were there, who made the reports. Perhaps, you do not know everything. Perhaps, you are prejudiced against the Russian media. And we get nothing in response,” the spokesperson stressed.
Representatives of the US Department of State have repeatedly leveled public accusations against Russia over the situation in Ukraine, refusing, however, to name their sources or referring to some reports circulating in the social networks.
According to Zakharova, the US side does not provide any evidence simply because “it lacks this evidence.”
