PARIS, August 25 (RIA Novosti) – French Prime Minister Manuel Valls told President Francois Hollande that the government has been dissolved, Agence France-Presse reported Monday.

The president accepted the government’s resignation and demanded that Valls form a new Cabinet.

The new Cabinet of Ministers is expected to be named on Tuesday, August 26.

The news comes after French Industrial Renewal Minister Arnaud Montebourg criticized the country’s economic direction and ally Germany at a socialists’ meeting on Sunday, saying that austerity measures carried out since the economic crisis of 2008 were crippling the euro zone’s economies.

France’s economy has been stagnant in 2014 and the country remains under pressure by the European Union to get it finances in order. According to the IFOP poll released on Sunday, Prime Minister Manuel Valls saw his approval rating drop to a new low of 36 percent and Hollande with a result of 17 percent, down one point from last month, remained the most unpopular president in France in more than half a century.
