MOSCOW, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - Unknown hackers carried out an attack Sunday on the Kyrgyz government’s website, a Kyrgyz Cabinet press service representative told RIA Novosti on Monday.
“It might have been just computer bullies,” the representative said.
The motivation behind the attack remains unknown. Presently, the case is under investigation and being looked into by the specialists trying to get the website back online.
Kyrgyz government websites are frequent targets of cyber-attacks. The most high-profile one was carried out on the Central Electoral Commission’s website in 2007 two days before the Kyrgyz parliamentary elections.
The government’s website was also hacked in 2012 with images of the Arab Spring protests and riots displayed instead of its regular content.
