MOSCOW, August 26 (RIA Novosti) - Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded two Palestinian communities in East Jerusalem, clashing with local youths, leaving many injured and kidnapping one, the International Middle East Media Center reported Tuesday.
According to the news portal, the soldiers fired gas bombs and concussion grenades at one of the main roads of the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood.
The Israeli Army has also invaded Ein al-Louza, blocking the main road in the area and firing rubber-coated bullets.
At the same time, members of Palestinian communities, including local youths, hurled Molotov cocktails at Israeli soldiers.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalated on July 8, when the Israeli government launched “Operation Protective Edge” in Gaza in response to Hamas movement aggression.
On July 17, Israel switched to a ground offensive to destroy the network of Hamas tunnels along Gaza’s Israeli border.
About 2,000 people have died since the military operation started, mainly civilians.
Russia, as well as several other countries and international organizations, has been struggling to direct the sides to the comprehensive peace agreement to little effect thus far.
