MOSCOW, August 27 (RIA Novosti) – Russian police have identified more than 3,700 child porn distributors in 75 countries; most of these criminals are based in the United States, Russia’s Interior Ministry announced Wednesday.
The police summarized the results of the first seven months of an international operation which had been launched by the Russian Interior Ministry to identify the distributors of child pornography. Since the beginning of the operation, Russian police have found 3,700 users from 75 foreign countries who distributed pornography involving minors.
“The main share of such lawbreakers is located in the United States (927), Brazil (501), Germany (398), France (266), Great Britain (249), Canada (215), the Netherlands (184), Belgium (115), Mexico (68), Australia (66) and Ukraine (56)," the ministry said in a statement.
It is also noted that criminal cases were opened and some offenders have even been convicted.
In Russia, 274 criminal cases were opened against child pornography distributors.
