ANKARA, August 28 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin will attend the inauguration of Turkey's newly elected president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Thursday, the speaker's press secretary said.
The Russian delegation will also include the leader of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Chechnya's President Ramzan Kadyrov.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 GMT at the house of parliament.
Erdogan will become Turkey's 12th president and the first ever to have been elected via a direct vote and not appointed by the parliament.
He won a landslide victory in August 10 presidential election, securing 52 percent of the vote. The president’s main rival, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, garnered roughly 38 percent of the vote. About nine percent of voters supported third candidate Selahattin Demirtas.
Voter turnout was 75 percent, with a total of 40.9 million people casting their votes in the election.
In his victory speech, Erdogan pledged to start a "new era of social reconciliation by leaving old disputes in the Old Turkey."
