MOSCOW, August 29 (RIA Novosti) - Islamic State (IS) militants released a new execution video on YouTube of a Kurdish Iraq soldier wearing an orange jumpsuit, reminiscent of the uniform worn by Guantanamo Bay detainees.

The use of an orange jumpsuit in the militants’ violent footage dates back at least a decade. In this manner, Islamic extremists demonstrate their anger toward the United States, a country that continues to hold detainees without charges for years in the prison on Cuba.

One of the first videos of a man having been executed in an orange jumpsuit was published back in 2004, when Iraqi militants beheaded US businessman Nicholas Berg.

One of the latest videos published by the IS shows US journalist James Foley being beheaded by a member of the militant jihadist group. Foley was also wearing orange.

The journalist’s executioner said Foley was killed because US President Barack Obama had ordered airstrikes against IS positions in Iraq.

The IS, previously known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS or ISIL), an al-Qaeda offshoot, was fighting against Syrian President Bashar Assad, and in June launched a large-scale offensive in Iraq, seizing large parts of the country.

In June, the group declared itself a “caliphate,” changed its name to the Islamic State and claimed religious authority over all Muslims globally.

In August, the United States authorized airstrikes to help Bagdad fight against IS positions in Iraq.

In turn, IS militants threatened to kill other US citizens if the country did not stop its attacks.
