MOSCOW, August 31 (RIA Novosti) - King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia said that Islamic terrorist groups could soon attack Europe and reach the United States unless the international community dramatically accelerates its efforts, according to the Associated Press.
"If neglected, I am certain that after a month they will reach Europe and, after another month, America," Abdullah ibn Abdilaziz said at a reception for foreign ambassadors in Riyadh.
"These terrorists do not know the name of humanity and you have witnessed them severing heads and giving them to children to walk with in the street," the king added.
King Abdullah did not mention any terrorist groups by name. Meanwhile, the Islamic State (IS) remains the most active militant group in the Middle East.
The Islamic State, formerly the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS), has been fighting the Syrian government since 2012. In 2014, IS militants launched an offensive in northern and western Iraq. On June 29, the group proclaimed the establishment of an Islamic caliphate on the territories that had fallen under its control. The IS offensive forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes.
