MOSCOW, September 2 (RIA Novosti) – The 4th annual International Circle of Light festival will be held in Moscow on October 10-14. This year’s edition will be the largest yet, the event organizers told RIA Novosti.
During the festival, light designers along with 2D and 3D artists will use the architecture of Moscow as a canvas for multimedia and light installations.
“Moscow is preparing for the 4th annual Circle of Light international festival, to be held on October 10-14. Currently artists and light designers are working on bright and colorful installations to adorn the city landscape and facades of the most recognizable buildings in Moscow,” the festival’s press service said.
According to the organizers, this year’s festival will be the largest yet. Since 2011, the number of venues has increased from three to eight. The main theme for 2014, “Around the World at the Speed of Light”, will be expressed in the works on display at the Ostankino and VDNKh exhibition centers, the Bolshoi Theatre, and the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve. The organizers also plan to create a special multimedia venue, the Media Cube, on Manezhnaya Square. The educational program accompanying the festival will be held at the Media Cube and at the Digital October venue, the press service said.
The festival will also include the Art Vision video mapping competition, involving professionals and young experts from 25 countries. The submissions on display will be open to the public and will be evaluated by the jury.
“Every year the Circle of Light festival reaches new heights, attracting more and more participants,” Head of the Moscow Department for Media and Advertising Vladimir Chernikov said. “Judging by the festival’s scale and splendor, it is sure to become one of the most memorable events in Moscow,” he said.
Admission to the festival is free.
