MOSCOW, September 5 (RIA Novosti) - Thirty-four miners were left trapped inside a coal mine in Bosnia after an earthquake triggered a gas explosion, AFP reports Friday.
"Of 56 miners that were in the mine, 22 made it back to the surface and 34 are still in the affected zone," said Esad Civic, the manager of the Raspotocje mine in Zenica.
According to Civic, two tunnels have collapsed. Two miners were injured in the blast and have been hospitalized in the town of Zenica.
According to BHRT national television, a 3.5-magnitude earthquake hit at 14:30 GMT 53 km northwest of Sarajevo. No other major damage was reported.
