Andrei chose a dangerous profession: as a war photographer, he documented some of the century's most historical events; he preferred working in hot spots to spending time in an office. Above: Andrei Stenin's mother Vera Nikolaevna (center)
According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the journalist was killed in a Ukrainian attack on a column of refugees that was being guarded by several eastern Ukraine independence supporters. Above: Colleagues saying good-bye to Andrei Stenin in the office of MIA Rossiya Segodnya.
MIA Rossiya Segodnya special photographer Vladimir Vyatkin, who has worked for the agency since 1968, called Stenin's pictures from Ukraine's front lines very professional.
