MOSCOW, September 6 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will supply two Sukhoi Superjets to Vietnam, as agreed at the 17th session of the Russia-Vietnam Inter-Governmental Commission, where the two countries discussed collaboration on several industrial projects, Russia's Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Viktor Evtukhov said Saturday.

"In these negotiations good progress has been made in almost all sectors. The main project is to deliver the flagship of the Russian aircraft plane Sukhoi Superjet to two Vietnamese airlines: Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air. We had silence on this issue for some time, the negotiations seemed to have stalled, but today the Vietnamese side said that the interest in the liner is maintained, and we very much hope that the citizens of Vietnam will soon be able to fly on these comfortable and safe Russian aircrafts," Evtukhov said.

The two nations' representatives also agreed on joint participation in several shipbuilding, engineering, and light industry projects. As part of one of the joint projects, Russia’s shipbuilding joint stock company Sudoexport to construct civilian ships and marine equipment for Vietnam. Three projects in the light industry are to take place in the Primorsky Krai and the Moscow region, Evtukhov said.

The 17th session of the Russia-Vietnam Inter-Governmental Commission opened in Vladivostok on Saturday.

The previous session was held in October 2013 in Hanoi, where 17 cooperative agreements were signed.

The total trade turnover between Russia and Vietnam in 2013 amounted to $3.9 billion, up 8.5 percent from the same period in 2012.

Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said cooperation in the fields of energy, science and education, as well as the use of national currencies to support trade were discussed during the committee meeting.

Evtukhov said the meeting helped strengthen the ties between Russia and Vietnam, and develop new joint industrial projects.
