MOSCOW, September 7 (RIA Novosti) – Adoption by Ukraine of the law on special status of eastern regions of Luhansk and Donetsk should provide an opportunity for the republics to build a relationship with Kiev on a contractual basis, Prime Minister of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), Igor Plotnitsky told RIA Novosti by telephone on Sunday.
"We will carefully study this law - the special status of our territories. This law should not only allow the freedom to popular self-government, but enable the right of the inhabitants of our Republics to independently form national bodies of armed citizens to protect public order. This law should allow the possibility of building a relationship with Ukraine on a contractual basis,” Plotnitsky said.
Protocol on the results of consultations of the Trilateral Contact Group signed in Minsk on Friday and published on the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) website entails Ukraine adopt the law on special status for the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in addition to holding early elections.
