MOSCOW, September 8 (RIA Novosti) – Western media that is spreading most anti-Russian ideas has always been a major problem, Co-Founder of the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity Raymond McGovern said.
“Media has always been the outlier of most anti-Russia ideas in the West. It has been a persistent problem, including for historical reasons,” McGovern said.
“I agree media is part of the problem. The secretive world of how editorial positions need to be unravelled. There is a real consolidation in the media. There are too many unreliable media. And so people fall back on a smaller number of a very consistent media messages, because that's the only thing that makes sense. Even if it is false,” the expert said.
In late August, Russia’s envoy to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov already said that the EU is still trammeled by inertia of sanctions and blindly accepts unsubstantiated claims about the presence of Russian forces in Ukraine.
Relations between Russia and the West have deteriorated in regard to the situation in Ukraine. The West has repeatedly accused Russia of building up forces on its border with eastern Ukraine and supplying independence supporters with weapons, a claim Moscow has rejected.
